Sunny and I have been extraordinarily fortunate to be able to make films
about subjects of a social and cultural nature that interest us personally
and professionally.
As documentary filmmakers and as Canadians, Sunny and I feel our work could only exist as it does, within a culture that understands the significance
of public broadcasting in a healthy democracy.
Most Aysha Productions have been for our national public broadcaster, the CBC or for the provincial TVOntario, and we are grateful for their support as filmmakers and as taxpaying stakeholders in the public broadcasting systems.
We have written these notes in an attempt to share something of the horror
and joy that is independent filmmaking; and to offer what insights we might
to a process that is ineluctably bound up in our own life stories.
